I know how stressful the holiday season can be with work, family, money etc.– But you have to remember to take care of yourself as well! You won’t be able to take care of all the holiday responsibilities if you’re running on empty, so take care of yourself mentally, physically, and emotionally. It’s easy to forget about ourselves, especially during these busy times. Here are some easy self care tips for a healthy mind, body and soul.

Be selfish– Do one thing a day that simply makes you happy. It’s okay to smile and laugh for a few minutes.

Unplug for an hour– Place your phone on airplane mode for an hour and unplug from social media, emails, emails, texts and phone calls. This will help to ease your mind and relax.

Edit– Edit your social media feeds. Remove anyone or anything that is negative and unpleasant from your newsfeed. Surround yourself with positivity all around!

Deep Breathing– Practice the Relaxing Breath breathing technique.

  • Exhale completely through your mouth, making a whoosh sound.
  • Close your mouth and inhale quietly through your nose to a mental count of four.
  • Hold your breath for a count of seven.
  • Exhale completely through your mouth, making a whoosh sound to a count of eight.
  • This is one breath. Now inhale again and repeat the cycle three more times for a total of four breaths.

Nap– Take a quick 10-20 min nap. This will leave you feeling refreshed and ready for the next holiday shopping trip.

Ask for help– You’re not Superman/Woman. Ask for help from other when you need it. It doesn’t show weakness, it shows your strength to recognize when you can’t do everything yourself.

Work out– Even a simple 20 min run/walk will help you to refocus and de-stress.

Treat yourself– Splurge a little on something you’ve been wanting- after all, you totally deserve it!

Detox– After all of the wine, sweets, and mashed potatoes you’ve consumed over the holidays, detox a little. Try a hot yoga session, or an at home detox tea.

Write– Write down your thoughts and concerns. Spend 15 mins venting on paper, then burn or toss after. Let go of it once the paper is gone. You’ll feel refreshed.

Diet– Try to eat healthy for 2 out of your 3 meals a day. Drink more water.

Be silly– Put on your favorite dance song and shake your booty!

Create a cozy place– Cozy up a place in your home. Add some yummy smelling candles, a soft blanket and plush pillows. Spend 15-20 mins reading your favorite book in this cozy place.

Build a self care kit– This basket could be filled with your favorite body lotion, essential oils, face masks, a sweet treat, comfy socks, anything that will make you feel special and happy!
